The Administrative Remedy Program is the Bureau of Prisons grievance process that allows inmates to formally address
problems, concerns, or disputes while incarcerated.
This process is used to file complaints or challenge issues within the BOP, including:
✔ Disciplinary actions
✔ Sentence calculation concerns
✔ Property issues
✔ Medical concerns
✔ Program eligibility disputes
✔ Staff-related concerns
✔ Conditions of confinement
✔ Other institutional issues
The process usually begins with a BP-8 informal resolution attempt. If the issue is not resolved, inmates may continue
through additional levels, including a BP-9, BP-10, and BP-11 appeal.
Understanding deadlines, paperwork requirements, and the proper filing process can often feel confusing, especially for
inmates and families unfamiliar with the BOP system.
